And then there were four. Back to the old-school best 4 out of 7 game series we go. These are arguably the best four teams in all of baseball right now, so this should be fun. We are about to witness what two teams will win pennants in their respective leagues for the right to play in the biggest stage of them all - the World Series.
AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES:
Boston Red Sox vs Houston Astros
Cy Young Award candidates, MVP candidates, players with World Series rings, you name it this series has it all. You will see a lot of matchup-based decisions by both skippers, especially late in games from the bullpens. There is ace starting pitching on each side, as well as two great hitting lineups going toe-to-toe in what should be a fascinating, marquee matchup all-around. The Red Sox will have the edge in speed, and we will see if they take advantage of Houston's lack of success throwing runners out when opposing teams try to steal 2nd base. That could work in Boston's favor being the more singles-hitting team. The Astros can flat out rake and can be very streaky with big innings at the dish. There are many candidates on both sides to be a difference maker and you never know who that hero will be, but it should come somewhere from the defending champs.

NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES:
Milwaukee Brewers vs Los Angeles Dodgers
On the pitching side, starting rotation goes to the Dodgers, but the bullpen goes to the "Brew Crew". Both squads are also very good defensively and that will be on display throughout the series. Offensively, both teams can rake from the middle of the order but the edge goes to the boys from Los Angeles who are a lot more home run happy and can hit a boatload of them. Milwaukee has more speed, which could end up being a factor if we see some low scoring games. Once again the Kershaw effect will be in place, as he will take the ball for two, maybe three starts in his quest to carry his team to the promised land. It says here that the rotation will be the difference because better starting pitching becomes a significantly bigger factor when you stretch it out to a best 4 out of 7 games.
