2019 NHL Playoffs: Conference Finals Predictions

WESTERN CONFERENCE

SAN JOSE SHARKS vs ST. LOUIS BLUES

Both teams survived a Game 7 at home, both teams have had good teams for the past several years and both teams have had trouble getting through the Western Conference to the Stanley Cup Final, save for in 2016 when these same 2 teams met right here at this spot with the Sharks winning in 6 games en route to their only Stanley Cup Final in franchise history. This will also feature a pair of hot goaltenders, so this should be a very close and interesting matchup at all positions. But just like in Round 2 for both sides, it says here give the edge to the home team by one goal in a final and deciding game. While the Blues look unbeatable at times, the Sharks have been a contender for about a decade and a half, and I know this may sound like a broken record but this finally looks like the year they can smell a return to the finals and win the whole thing once and for all. It just won't be easy against this team, but thus far it hasn't been and nobody said it would be.

ARMCHAIR GM LINE: SHARKS IN 7

EASTERN CONFERENCE

BOSTON BRUINS vs CAROLINA HURRICANES

Just like in my 2nd Round article, I simply do not have much to say here except for that once again this was a missed opportunity for the Toronto Maple Leafs. If you are going to tell me that had they closed out the Boston Bruins in Game 6 on Easter Sunday like they should have, then all they had to do was beat Columbus and Carolina to get to the finals - that is why yes I am still in a lot of pain which is why I am still talking about this. Nevertheless, also just like in Round 2 the clock will strike midnight on a Cinderella story - this time for those "Bunch of Jerks", the Carolina Hurricanes. The Bruins are and have been the only legitimate Stanley Cup contender left in the Eastern Conference since the end of round one, and although the players won't say it they can smell that exact same opportunity on what could be the last long playoff run for this veteran core group. The 'Canes? They always seem to make noise when they do get into the playoffs, until reality finally sets in. See ya back in the postseason again in 5 years, ya bunch of jerks.

ARMCHAIR GM LINE: BRUINS IN 5

2018 1ST 2 ROUNDS PREDICTION RECORD: 3-9 (1/3 WINS IN EXACT GAMES)
