Calvillo vs Eye is the UFC's equivalent of a Big Mac meal. Sure it's food, but at the end of the day it's gonna make you feel like you're drowning in the lard that that very same food was cooked in. Simply put this card stinks. Maybe we get gifted a few electrifying tilts, but I'm not holding my breath. So here we go, let's predict this superior card...
Cynthia Calvillo vs Jessica Eye
Straight up, watching Eye weigh-in was terrifying. Missing weight for the second straight fight is one thing, not being able to stand after weighing means you shouldn't be fighting at this weight-class. In reality this is an insanely close fight to call, but after seeing what Eye had to go through just to make weight has me doubting her big time.
"Hard nips" or not, I'll go with Cynthia Calvillo, even if she refuses to use her strengths to her advantage.
Prediction: Cynthia Calvillo, Decision
Karl Roberson vs. Marvin Vettori
Yes the co-main also suffered from a missed weight cut thanks to Roberson. Same thing happened to him not too long ago, but this time the fight goes on! Vettori is a scary dude, he seems like the type of guy you just choose not to be around. He's weird, borderline nuts, and seems to take a lot of things personally, but he he did push Adesanya to the brink in a split-decision loss, so that has to count for something.
Vettori is a wild man and I think he'll use his physicality to wear down Roberson, but I'm expect this to be a good fight.
Prediction: Marvin Vettori
Andre Filli vs Charles Jourdain
"Touchy" Fili is one of my favourites, He comes to fight, he is very much a hittable fighter, battle tested, and will not back down. This time around he's facing the Canadian Charles "Air" Jourdain who is coming off a big time win against Do Hoo Choi. It's a tough matchup for both sides and is easily the best fight on the card, but I think experience will prevail here.
Fili has every physical advantage a fighter would want. He's taller, longer, and is just naturally the bigger man. Usually I rock with Canadians, but in this one I'll go with "Touchy".
Prediction: Andre Fili, Decision
Charles Rosa vs Kevin Aguilar
If you want to know what the term "there are levels to this" looks like in living form just watch Bryce Mitchell vs Charles Rosa, because there are indeed levels to this. Don't know how you come back from that so fast but here Rosa is. Still, I'll go with the better boxer in Aguilar.
Prediction: Kevin Aguilar, 2nd RD TKO
Jordan Espinosa vs. Mark De La Rosa
De La Rosa started 2019 11-1, coming into this fight he is now 11-4. It's been sledding for him lately. I think this is a must-win for both guys, but I'm not expecting a convincing effort from either. I'd lean Espinosa here though.
Prediction: Jordan Espinosa, Decision
