Arrows Unveil Reloaded Home Kit

Back in November, the Toronto Arrows and the rest of Major League Rugby revealed their kits for the 2021 season. Social media was buzzing and the internet seemed to declare that the Arrows and New England Free Jacks had the best kit offerings in the league. A big reason for the popularity of their kits was the use of the traditional rugby collar. The Free Jacks wore a collar on their 2020 home kits and for 2021 decided to add it to the away kit. The Arrows introduced a collar a new away kit that also featured a modernized hoops design that resembled an arrow. The new away kit proved to be incredibly popular, so the Arrows have doubled-down on the collar.

The Arrows have now introduced the “Reloaded” home kit for 2021! The kit prominently features the collar and is a bit of a combination of the previous home and away kits from 2020. The simplest way to describe it is they inverted the colours on the 2020 away kit so that it is primarily blue with a white stripe, and added the collar.

Ultimately, this kit is just as unreal as the away kit, if not better. The Arrows will be taking the pitch in a truly classic look! In my opinion, there isn’t a rugby club on the planet whose kits would not look better with a collar. The positive reaction to the collars and the Arrows’ quick decision to add a second collared kit, has me wondering if this could become more of a trend throughout the league. Or perhaps that is just my wishful thinking in wanting to see the Houston SaberCats kit with a collar on it.

The biggest question surrounding the Arrows home kit for 2021 right now is “where exactly is home”? The Blue Jays and Raptors both had to find new homes south of the border and the NHL is currently utilizing an all-Canadian division. Based on the current state of the pandemic, it seems quite possible that the Arrows may end up in the same boat.

Arrows’ owner Bill Webb has said that the club has multiple contingency plans in place for the 2021 season. One of those plans includes relocating to the United States and playing double-headers with a fellow MLR club. Recently, the San Diego Legion have announced that they will be playing all of their 2021 home games in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Legion has become the first MLR team to announce a temporary relocation for the 2021 season. How many clubs will be required to follow in their footsteps? That remains to be seen.
