Getting Fed to "The Lioness", UFC 250 Predictions

Source: GETTY

The world is seeing a massive revolution at the moment, and realistically the same could be said about the UFC. Two of its biggest stars in Jon Jones and Jorge Masvidal have made it know that they feel like it's time for the UFC to start paying up. Whatever your outlook on the situation is, is it really a good look to use the pandemic as an excuse to not up fighter pay scale when they are out here buying islands?

This is almost like Michael Scott (if you don't like The Office then you can just get the hell out of here) trying to keep the budget surplus as a bonus instead of buying the employees new chairs. GIVE JON AND JORGE NEW CHAIRS DANA!

I digress, UFC 250 is headlined by two ferocious ladies, and is backed up by a magnificent crop of Bantamweight talent. With 4 of the top 10 135ers waging war tonight, the landscape of the division could change mightily. With all that said though, let's get in to my predictions.

Amanda Nunes vs Felicia Spencer

As a fellow Canadian I try to do my best to hide my bias, but a small part of me wants to see the upset, however Spencer likes to lead with her face and is frankly the opposite of fluid on the feet. That might be a rough assessment for a title contender, but when she's facing the most dangerous woman in the world its hard not to point out the obvious.

Nunes is the heavy favourite, and has earned the right to be so. Spencer is tough but "The Lioness" is waiting to feed on some Canadian bacon.

Prediction: Amanda Nunes, 2nd RD TKO

Cody Garbrandt vs Raphael Assuncao

The rise and sudden fall of Cody Garbrandt is a curious one. Not long ago Garbrandt was a young champion in an exciting division, however just 4 years and 3 devastating losses later Garbrandt's future is very much up in the air. No longer with Alpha Male, and after this fight, no longer will he be competing at 135, this is a make or break fight heading into a new division.

Assuncao is facing an uphill battle as well. Loser of 2 straight, and at the age of 37, he is in dire need of a top 10 victory to stay relevant. I think the combo of Garbrandt and Mark Henry is a good one, and I think it will take "No Love" back to title contention.

Prediction: Cody Garbrandt, 1st RD TKO

Aljamain Sterling vs. Cory Sandhagen

Ever since that vicious knockout defeat to Marlon Mores, Sterling has taken his game to a new level, but the same could be said for Sandhagen as well. I don't think there is much of a talent gap here and by all rights this fight has no business NOT being the co-main. To me though this is probably going to come down to the grappling, and I think Sterling will shine there.

A so-called title eliminator, expect to see Petr Yan chime in on the outcome of this one before the night is done with. This bout will be a fun one.

Prediciton: Aljamain Sterling, Decision

Anthony Rocco Martin vs Neil Magny

I think this fight may surprise a few people. Whether or not it's more interesting than good is really the question though. Like all of Magny's opponents, Martin will be facing a massive disadvantage in the reach department and is behind in the cardio column as well. I'm just not sure what he brings to the table that's really going to give Magny trouble.

Length, size, resume, they all favour Magny. Martin doesn't take guys down, and isn't a finisher, it'll be interesting to see what the gameplan is.

Prediction: Neil Magny, Decision

Eddie Wineland vs Sean O'Malley

You wanna talk about a guy who's been around forever? Eddie Wineland has been around forever. The man has been around since 2003 and has faced the absolute best, however he's never faced anyone quite like "Sugar" Sean before. These fights though are always dangerous for prospects, and I think it will be a tough matchup for O'Malley, but he looked impressive in his last outing and has a lot to prove considering all the other Bantamweight talent that's on this card.

If he can stay sharp and maintain that overwhelming presence then I believe "Sugar" glides to a nice victory over a tough vet.

Prediction: Sean O'Malley, Decision
