UFC Fight Island 4: Aldana vs Holm Predictions

Source: Yahoo Sports

Man this year is just flying by. It seems like just yesterday we were talking about the UFC's decision to plow through a global pandemic, essentially becoming the only show in town, and now what was once a mere myth in MMA lore has now become a staple. Fight Island hosts a card that, if we're being honest, gives off a very "sub par" vibe. Think Ant-Man coming out after Infinity War.

But alas, the show goes on and so shall my predictions (even if they were way off las weekend).

Irene Aldana vs Holly Holm

Ever since that iconic knockout of Ronda Rousey, Holm has been the model of inconsistency. Hosting a record of 3-5 since she first got her grasps on the title, granted all those losses have come to women at the top their respected division, but when you look across the ring and see a surging fighter licking her chops I'm not sure I like her chances.

If Aldana can manage to keep Holm from pinning her up against the cage and push her tempo on the former champ then she has an excellent shot at pulling out the W. However, Holm has had a knack at winning these kind of fights in ugly fashion but I hope we see a little more "gitty up" from her. Let's make this an interesting fight ladies....please.

Prediction: Irene Aldana, Decision

Yorgan de Castro vs Carlos Felipe

Really don't know what was so compelling about this fight to make it the co-main, especially considering the fight that proceeds it. Both guys are big and both guys look to punch other people hard, preferably in the face.

Prediction: Yorgan De Castro, 2nd RD TKO

Germaine de Randamie vs Julianna Pena

It's quite easy to see on paper that this is by far the most interesting fight on the card. Two contrasting styles that have the tools to give the other 15 minutes of hell! If Pena really puts the pedal to the metal this could be an easy night for her but if she decides to lollygag on the feet then GdR could win this one in style.

Styles make fights, and this is as interesting a tilt as this card has to offer.

Prediction: Julianna Pena, Decision

Cameron Else vs Kyler Phillips

Don't know much about either guy other than the fact that Phillips seems to have little to no gas tank. So with that I'll go with the Brit who comes in riding a 6-fight win streak, all of which have come by way of stoppage.

Prediction: Cameron Else, 3rd RD SUB

Dusko Todorovic vs Dequan Townsend

This is one of those fights where your heart tend to outweigh your head. Despite Todorovic being the more gifted athlete, just knowing Townsend's background makes you root for him. Clearly a setup fight, young guy vs old guy, prospect vs journeyman, any way you spin it you know what the UFC is doing here. I'm hoping the old dog comes out on top but I'm not holding my breath.

Prediction: Dusko Todorovic, Decision

Carlos Condit vs. Court McGee

I wouldn't normally talk about a prelim fight but when it involves "The Natural Born Killer" I would be ill in the head if I didn't. There was a time in history where this man was 1a to GSP's 1, but father time can be cruel and Condit has felt every bit of that. Luckily, he has a very winnable fight against McGee, who's only real gift is effort.

Here's hoping the old Condit makes an appearance in this one, and here's hoping that with a win we get to see him welcome Nick Diaz back to the cage. The teenage me is salivating at the thought.

Prediction: Carlos Condit, Decision

Rest of the Card
